Here you will find the small and exciting moments of nature's life, right in the heart of the city.

My name is Irit Drob – a nature photographer, tour/lecturer and activist for the preservation of nature and wildlife, with a special love for jackals.

In this blog I will share with you photos, experiences from the field, insights and stories that happen right here – not in the desert, not in the jungle, but here near home – In an urban environment.

People and jackals - coexistence

Tour at Yarkon Park - Following the Jackals (as part of the "For the Yarkon" events - Yarkon River Authority) 🦊

At the end of March 2025, just before the sun set, I went out to guide a tour about jackals in Hayarkon Park. During the tour, I showed photographs, we watched videos, heard real howls, watched a pair of jackals emerge from the shadows, and even talked about ways to deal with situations in which jackals approach humans.

The participants asked questions, were amazed, and also calmed down a bit – because when you get to know the animal, you are less afraid and more understanding.

I have attached some photos from the tour. Every tour like this is not only an experience but also a reminder – that there is a whole and fascinating life that exists alongside us, if we only learn to look.

טבע פראי בעיר - מבעד לעדשה

ברוכים הבאים לבלוג שלי : טבע פראי בעיר - מבעד לעדשה!

כאן תמצאו את הרגעים הקטנים והמרגשים של חיי הטבע, ממש בלב העיר. שמי עירית דרוב – צלמת טבע, מעבירה סיורים/הרצאות ופעילה למען שמירה על טבע וחיות בר, עם אהבה מיוחדת לתנים.

בבלוג הזה אשתף אתכם בתמונות, חוויות מהשטח, תובנות וסיפורים שמתרחשים ממש כאן – לא במדבר, לא בג’ונגל, אלא כאן ליד הבית - בפארק הירקון.

🦊 סיור בפארק הירקון - בעקבות התנים (במסגרת אירועי "בשביל הירקון"- רשות נחל הירקון)

בסוף מרץ 2025, רגע לפני שהשמש שקעה, יצאתי להדריך סיור בנושא תנים בפארק הירקון. במהלך הסיור הצגתי צילומים, צפינו בסרטונים, שמענו יללות אמתיות, צפינו בזוג תנים שצצו מתוך הצללים ואפילו דיברנו על דרכים להתמודד עם מצבים שבהם התנים מתקרבים לבני אדם.

המשתתפים שאלו, התפלאו, וגם קצת נרגעו – כי כשמכירים את החיה, פחות מפחדים ויותר מבינים.

כל סיור כזה הוא לא רק חוויה אלא גם תזכורת – שיש חיים שלמים ומרתקים שמתקיימים לצדנו, אם רק נלמד להסתכל.
